Floyd "Wayne" Kinion

Floyd “Wayne” Kinion of Springdale peacefully met his Lord surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, November 30, 2008 at the Fayetteville Veteran’s Home. He was born July 4, 1932 in Strang, Oklahoma, the son of Edward and Athalee Sullivan Kinion. He attended and graduated from Strang High School in May 1950. After graduation, Wayne served in the United States Army. Wayne married Elsie Hillis and they began their life long journey together on March 30, 1957. They celebrated their 51st anniversary on March 30, 2008. Through the good times and difficult times in their life their love has always remained steadfast and strong. Wayne accepted the Lord as his Savior on June 17 1957 and his most important goal in life was to live and be a witness for Jesus. He was a Sunday School teacher for 42 years and served as a Deacon for 35 years. Wayne was always going out on visitation and hospital visits. He enjoyed reaching out to others and never met a stranger. The elderly and babies held a special place in his heart. He was employed by Heekin Can/ Ball Corp for 31 years. After retiring, Wayne loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, gardening, tinkering with special projects in his shed and just being with family and friends. Even after a stroke took Wayne’s ability to speak away, he had a special way of reaching out and making friends and touching hearts and lives. That special personality and happiness he had just continued to shine through. He continued to persevere and worked at getting better when most people would have given up. He had a tremendous love for life. He will be greatly missed! Our hearts will always be sad at our loss, but, we know that our separation is only for a short while, and that our loss is Heaven’s gain. This brings us great comfort and for that we are so thankful. He is survived by his wife, Elsie of the home; two daughters, Karen Lloyd and husband Bill of Springdale, and Ramona Lillard and husband Randy of Rogers; five grandchildren, Lacey, Renee, Lindsey, Rachael, and Lance; four sisters, Margie Ables, Leta Mathis, Norma McNair, and Linda Lamar all of Pryor, OK; and one brother, Jack Kinion of Adair, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Athalee Kinion and three older brothers, Gerald, Don, and Bruce Kinion. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Lowell with Reverend Ben Rowell and Reverend Gary Thomas officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Benge Cemetery in Strang, OK. Visitation will be from 8:00 A.M. until service time Tuesday at the church. Words are inadequate to describe our love, respect, admiration and devotion to our daddy. His hands provided for our physical needs. His heart gave us love. And his faith pointed us to the Father above. We’ll see you soon, Daddy!
