Margaret Jane Spradlin

Margaret Spradlin, 64, of Huntsville passed from this life on October 5, 2013, at the Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale. Margaret was born July 28, 1949 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Charley and Evelyn Jordan Honey. She was raised in Fort Smith with her siblings, Ella, Marla Faye, Gerald, Bill, Jim, Robert and Christine. Margaret met Melvin Rodger Spradlin in Texas. They fell in love and were married on the beach June 12, 1982. They moved to Arkansas where Quinton and Dutch were born. Margaret’s family was complete with six children—Laura, Lamone, Doline, Dolan Jr., Quinton and Dutch. Margaret’s husband, Melvin passed away on August 10, 2000. After his passing, Margaret said that she wouldn't get married again because she was "waiting on Willy" referring to Willy Nelson. Margaret was a loving mother and grandmother. Some of the children’s fondest memories of her are on Sunday mornings hearing her sing along with some good ole Christian music. She had an unwavering faith in God and knew that there was more than just life for us. She loved playing cards and enjoyed gardening. Margaret had a great sense of humor and loved joking around. She didn't take life so seriously like most of us do. She enjoyed the small things in life like a good deck of cards. She always had an ear to listen no matter what problem you had. She would always be there to help. She was not afraid to tell you like it was. Margaret hadn't cut her hair since she was in her thirties. At the time of her passing her braided hair was over 4 feet long. Although small in stature, Margaret Spradlin had a big personality. She always said that "dynamite comes in small packages'. There was no other like her and never will be again. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Spradlin, and her parents. Margaret is survived by her children, Quinton Spradlin, Dutch Spradlin, Dolan Harris, Lamone Swope and Doline Sours and Laura; and her siblings, Ella, Marla Fay, Gerald, Bill, Jim, and Christine. She had many grandchildren she was also a great grandmother and loved them all. The family will celebrate Margaret’s life with a memorial service at a later date.
